Empowering women to help families build strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Women Build

Together, we’re building stronger, safer communities.

Since 1991, Women Build volunteers from all walks of life have come together to build stronger, safer communities.

Our neighborhoods are comprised largely of women and children and they are also the populations most likely to be affected by poor living conditions. Our Women Build events provide the opportunity for women to take a proactive step in serving their communities.

No Experience Necessary

No experience is necessary to make an impact with Women Build. Volunteers work under the guidance of construction professionals, alongside other volunteers and future Habitat homeowners. Whether you are learning new skills or simply adding a few to your tool belt, this is a rewarding experience for all involved and improves the community that you share.

Meet the Homeowners

This year, homeowners and Women Build volunteers will work on five new homes across the Kansas City metro. Click the photos below to meet these homeowners and to cheer them on as they build their future.

Help us make the Cost of Home something we all can afford.

Bold action is needed to address the increasing cost of housing and to support the residential needs of low-income individuals and families nationwide, which is why Habitat for Humanity has launched Cost of Home, a national advocacy campaign. Over the next 5 years, Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City will engage housing advocates, Habitat homeowners, volunteers and supporters, as well as federal, state and local policymakers to advance access to safe, decent and affordable homes.
