Why Veterans Build Matters

Veteran housing issues remain a pressing concern, reflecting the challenges faced by those who have served our nation. Many veterans encounter difficulties in securing affordable and stable housing upon returning to civilian life, grappling with issues such as homelessness, inadequate housing conditions, and limited access to supportive services.

  • More than 20% of Kansas City area veterans experience housing issues.
  • More than 1.5 million U.S. veterans pay at least 50% of their income toward rent or mortgage.
  • Veterans who are single mothers spend more than 30% of their income on housing.
  • Veterans 55 years of age or older are more likely to have a disability that requires home modification.
