Why Veterans Build Matters

Veteran housing issues remain a pressing concern, reflecting the challenges faced by those who have served our nation. Many veterans encounter difficulties in securing affordable and stable housing upon returning to civilian life, grappling with issues such as homelessness, inadequate housing conditions, and limited access to supportive services.

  • In 2023, on an average night, 20,067 veterans lived in shelters, and 15,507 were unsheltered. 
  • Over 700,000 low-income veterans are homeless or have severe housing cost burdens.
  • Over 230,000 children live in veteran households that are severely burdened by high housing costs.
