Brittney’s path to homeownership began with her mother, a Habitat KC owner for 30 years who pushed her to apply. Fear held Brittney back from applying, but a 2019 diagnosis with cutaneous T-cell lymphoma made the future feel uncertain. During a treatment stay in Texas, something shifted.
“I finally had a wake-up call to say — there has to be a change,” she recalls. “I had hope that I could do it. That I could make a change for not only myself, but for my daughter as well.”
For Brittney, home means something concrete: a safe, clean environment that supports recovery. And a neighborhood where her daughter can thrive. She dreams of sitting on the porch. Making her home feel cozy and warm. Welcoming family and friends through a door that is always open.
Today, Brittney stands as a homeowner, continuing a legacy her mother started three decades ago.
