Neighborhood Revitalization
Through Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City’s neighborhood revitalization work, we tailor our efforts by partnering with residents, community leaders and organizations to best address real concerns and improve the lives of the people who live in our focus neighborhoods. With residents leading revitalization efforts, Habitat’s work looks different in each community but always with the same goal; to make a lasting impact on the quality of life of its residents.

While a new, affordable home is giving Rosa’s family a chance for a more stable future, it may be the building process that has changed their lives the most. She says that volunteering on the construction site has helped her realize her own strength by challenging her while building alongside other homeowners. She also credits Habitat with helping her son come out of his shell to learn new skills one-on-one with construction supervisors.
“He usually hates talking to people, but today, he came to life. I saw him smile. As soon as we got in the car, he said, ‘Well, that was amazing. I need to do this more often, be under than sun, and feel like I’m productive.’ My heart felt like it was going to explode of happiness.”

Habitat KC works with our homeowners to design and build a home that meets their needs while also complementing the existing neighborhood.
