Neighborhood Revitalization

Changing Neighborhoods, Changing Lives

Through Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City’s neighborhood revitalization work, we tailor our efforts by partnering with residents, community leaders and organizations to best address real concerns and improve the lives of the people who live in our focus neighborhoods. With residents leading revitalization efforts, Habitat’s work looks different in each community but always with the same goal; to make a lasting impact on the quality of life of its residents.

Pathway at Heritage Park

Pathway at Heritage Park marks our first land trust community, an innovative approach that enables us to build homes that are affordable for first-time homebuyers who meet our income guidelines while ensuring they remain affordable in perpetuity.

Wendell Phillips Neighborhood

The Wendell Phillips neighborhood has a rich cultural history in the urban heart of Kansas City but has experienced a decline in population and long periods of disinvestment. Habitat KC has built 20 new construction homes in the community.

Lykins Neighborhood

Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City is partnering with the Lykins Neighborhood Association and several entities to transform the neighborhood. Over the next several years, 75-100 new homes will be built, and 100-150 homes will receive minor and critical repairs.

Lenexa Homes

Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City is moving forward on a proposed project that includes the potential purchase of approximately 17 acres of City-owned property on the east side of Clare Road at 87th Street in western Lenexa.

Armourdale Neighborhood

Armourdale is one of Kansas City’s oldest neighborhoods. With a history deeply rooted in the early industrial development of Kansas City, this neighborhood has a unique charm. Today, we’ve completed four new homes with plans for continued construction.
