
KANSAS CITY, MO. (April 17, 2025) – April 20 – 26, 2025, is National Volunteer Appreciation Week, a time when organizations around the country recognize and appreciate the contributions of volunteers in their community. On Thursday, April 24th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City will host a special appreciation event at its headquarters, located at 1423 E. Linwood Boulevard in Kansas City, Missouri. Volunteers, partners, and staff are invited to join others as three awards are presented: the Pritchard Legacy Award, the Emerging Volunteer Award, and the Visionary Partnership Award.
The Visionary Partnership Award honors a bold and innovative corporate or community partner who, through collaborative volunteer efforts, embodies a visionary approach to creating solutions that meet the affordable housing needs of Kansas City. Past award winners include Wells Fargo, Urban Neighborhood Initiative, Central Bank of the Midwest, and GEHA. The 2025 nominees are the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors (KCRAR), Spire Energy, and Village Presbyterian Church.
The Pritchard Legacy Award recognizes and celebrates an individual who has shared their skills through volunteerism and positively impacted the community throughout their lifetime. This volunteer has been with the organization for more than ten years, continues to show up and suit up every week, and will continue to build homes, community, and hope well into the future. Past Pritchard Legacy Award winners are David Lillard, Al Harrold, Bob Rankin, Bill Ward, and Barrie Smith. The 2025 nominees are Bret Gustafson, Jim Lisson, and Terry White.
The Emerging Volunteer Award recognizes a volunteer who has been with the organization for less than three years. Throughout that time, this volunteer has demonstrated leadership and growth in their skill set, consistently projecting positivity. This volunteer has an infectious passion for Habitat’s mission and shares that with others. Past award winners are Cary Jackson, Michael Jantsch, Patricia McCombs, Amir Azami, and Kelly Foreman. The 2025 nominees are Doug Fricke, Chris Hodgdon, and Bob Schatz.
