Volunteer Opportunities

Habitat for Humanity - Kansas City, One of our many cheerful volunteersThese are just some of the volunteer positions we have available on a regular basis.  If you have skills in a specific area, contact us to discuss how we can work together.  Please note that construction volunteers are required to be at least 16 years old.  At the bottom of the page, we have suggestions for projects that would work for younger volunteers.

Construction Volunteer Opportunities

  • One-Day build Volunteer(s) - Volunteer for a day by yourself, with a friend, or with a group of up to 12 people.  The construction sites run from 8:00 am until about 3:00 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays, and the type of work depends on status of the house.  Flexibility helps.  Experience in construction is helpful, but not required.
  • Week-Day Volunteer - This requires a time commitment of one week-day per week for 6 months.  Please contact the Director of Volunteer services for more information.
  • Team Build Days - Take a day out of the office and spend it in the community!  One Tuesday a month is designated as a Team Build Day, specially designed for groups to come together for a day of morale building and home building with Habitat for Humanity Kansas City.  This combination of volunteer hours and a financial donation doubles your group’s impact toward our mission of providing affordable homeownership opportunities in Kansas City.  No construction skills or tools are required; each person just brings their own gloves and our staff will train, supervise, and provide the rest.  An outline of a typical day is below, as well as suggested donation amounts.  By the end of the day, your group will be connected with other and with the community in a truly unique way.  The satisfaction that comes from working with your hands will leave your group motivtated and exhilerated!
