Habitat for Humanity Kansas City ReStore is a store that is open to the public which sells donated (new and used) building materials. All money made comes back into the Habitat for Humanity Kansas City housing program, and most of the store’s staff are volunteers.

Volunteering at Habitat ReStore allows you to have fun and make a difference while giving you the flexibility to choose your own schedule. You can work as little as three hours a month or as much as several times a week. While no building or construction experience is necessary, your commitment to helping rebuild our community is. When you play a part, it helps make us whole.

Are there requirements for Volunteering at the ReSore?
All volunteers must be at least 16 years old, wear closed-toe shoes and be able to lift at least 25lbs.
Volunteer staff work on the sales floor, helping customers find building materials, or in receiving, helping to unload trucks and measure and price materials for sale. Office work is also an option either answering the phone or data entry.
We can accommodate groups of up to 10 people for at least a four-hour shift. Groups work on team building projects that help them work together and have fun making a difference.

If you need community service or learning service hours, Habitat KC ReStore is a great place to learn about the environment and give back to our community.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE RESTORE..
Greeting, assisting and answering customer questions about products and materials and communicating the Habitat for Humanity and Habitat ReStore mission. Must be scheduled for at least 3 hours/month, any time during store hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Assisting in the unloading, preparing, stocking and displaying of donated building materials. Must be scheduled for at least 3 hours/month, any time during business hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds.
Manage the sales counter, key in sales using a cash register, complete hold and sold tags, act as a point of contact for customers and maintain the sales counter area. Must be scheduled for at least 2 shifts of 3 hours/month, anytime during store hours: Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Merchandise Collections Assistant
Assisting the Collections Driver in picking up donated materials, inspecting them for suitability, loading them into a truck and completing field paperwork. On-call or regularly scheduled basis with a minimum four-hour shift during the hours: Monday through Saturday, 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Friendly and courteous attitude with the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Act as an agency representative for Habitat ReStore by arranging and giving informal presentations to neighborhood and homeowners’ associations and staffing information tables at area festivals and community events. Commitment in advance for large events and on-call or self-scheduling for small events.
