Habitat for Humanity Kansas City ReStore is a store that is open to the public which sells donated (new and used) building materials. All money made comes back into the Habitat for Humanity Kansas City housing program, and most of the store’s staff are volunteers.

Volunteering at Habitat ReStore allows you to have fun and make a difference while giving you the flexibility to choose your own schedule. You can work as little as four hours a month or as much as several times a week. While no building or construction experience is necessary, your commitment to helping rebuild our community is. When you play a part, it helps make us whole.

Are there requirements for Volunteering at the ReStore?

All volunteers must be at least 14 years old (if you are 14 or 15 years old you must be be accompanied by a parent or guardian), wear closed-toe shoes and be able to lift at least 25lbs.

Individual Volunteers

Volunteer staff work on the sales floor, helping customers find building materials, or in receiving, helping to unload trucks and measure and price materials for sale.

Group Volunteers

We can accommodate groups of up to 10 people for at least a four-hour shift. Groups work on team building projects that help them work together and have fun making a difference. For more information and to submit a group request form click here.

Community and Learning Service

If you need community service or learning service hours, Habitat KC ReStore is a great place to learn about the environment and give back to our community. Sales Associate

Greeting, assisting and answering customer questions about products and materials and communicating the Habitat for Humanity and Habitat ReStore mission. Must be scheduled for at least 4 hours/month, any time during store hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Receiving/Warehouse Associate

Assisting in the unloading, preparing, stocking and displaying of donated building materials. Must be scheduled for at least 4 hours/month, any time during business hours: Monday through Friday 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Saturday 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
