Welcome home, Sarafina Family!
When Kabura Sarafina and his family moved to the United States in 2007, it was a life-changing experience.
“Providing a stable life for my children here in America and being able to have enough money to help my family back in Burundi, Africa, who live in poverty, was very important to me,” said Kabura.
Kabura knew that homeownership would provide the stability his family needed, which is where his interest in Habitat KC began.
“I loved the fact that I could build my own house and have the freedom of owning my own home. The thought of being able to pay off my own home one day keeps me motivated,’’ said Kabura.
Coming from a current situation where the Sarafina family works an abundance of hours just to pay rent and live in constant uncertainty, they are most excited to decorate their home. They dream about buying furniture, painting their kids’ rooms, and so much more.
“Home is a place where you feel safe, a place where it’s comfortable. Knowing that you own your own home and can have enough money to create that stable life you’ve always dreamed of is something special,” said Kabura.
