A Gift In Your Will
Whether you designate a specific amount or leave a percentage of your estate, your legacy gift will empower Habitat KC’s continued work to provide affordable housing solutions to local families. We’ve partnered with Freewill to help you create a will if you don’t have one already.
If you have already left a gift to Habitat KC in your will or trust, use this tool to let us know!
Sample Language:
I [name], of [city, state ZIP], bequeath the sum of $[ ] or [ ] percent of my estate to Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City, a nonprofit organization with a business address of 1423 East Linwood Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64109 and a tax identification number 43-1175749 for its unrestricted use and purpose.

Beneficiary Designation
Your retirement plans, life insurance policies, and annuities can create safe, decent and affordable homes for Kansas City’s families.

Non-cash Assets
Donating certain non-cash assets like real estate can provide significant tax benefits while building safe, decent and affordable homes for individuals and families.

Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 72 or older, you can give up to $100,000 per year from your IRA, allowing you to exclude the amount of your RMD from your income, even if you don’t itemize your taxes each year.

Donor-Advised Fund
Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing charitable giving vehicle because they are the easiest and most tax-savvy way to give to organizations like Habitat KC. Individuals can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets to the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. All you will need is our legal name and EIN number.
