Homeowner Information Sessions

Would you like to own your own home for less than the cost of your monthly rent payment? With Habitat for Humanity of Kansas City, you can! Read below to start your path to affordable homeownership.

Attend an Information Session

If you are interested in applying to Habitat for Humanity’s Homeownership Program, the first step is to attend an information session.

During the information session, you will learn from Habitat KC’s Homeowner Services team about program expectations and requirements. At the end of the session, you will have the opportunity to sign up for a one-on-one eligibility assessment and you will receive an application packet that can be submitted during the open application period.

In order to be selected for Habitat KC’s homeownership program, applicants must meet three selection criteria:

Is your rent unaffordable? Is your current home overcrowded or unsafe to live in? Does it have adequate and safe plumbing and electricity? These are just a few of things to consider when assessing your housing needs.

Do you have a steady income? Have you paid your rent on time for the past 12 months?  These are just a few questions that can determine your ability to pay a no-interest home loan from Habitat KC. Don't worry, we'll work with you to help you become mortgage ready.

Our partnership is focused on building strength, stability and self-reliance. An applicant's willingness to take on this challenge lets us know that you're serious about building a brighter future for yourself and your family.
